Non-profit organizations in the Basin can now access high-impact educational modules with the Non-Profit Essentials Webinar Series.
The Trust has partnered with Vantage Point, experts in learning opportunities for volunteers and non-profits, to develop and deliver the webinar series that explores important topics non-profit societies face today. Combining online videos with slide notes and workbooks, the series offers tools to expand the knowledge and build capacity in non-profit organizations across the Basin.
Non-profit boards and leadership play a critical role in overseeing their organizations’ mission, human and financial resources and strategic direction. Boards provide leadership by setting direction, making policy and strategic decisions, overseeing and monitoring staff and volunteer performance and ensuring overall sustainability. They are also responsible for the articulation and preservation of the organization’s mission, vision, values and culture.
The webinar series will contribute to the vitality of non-profit organizations across all sectors.
The series has 12 pre-recorded, 15 minute videos that help participants increase their capacity for managing a non-profit organization. The videos provide training in six key areas:
- the roles and responsibilities of a board
- effective meetings
- financial governance
- risk management
- volunteer management
- evaluation
Each video includes slide notes and a workbook with information and tools to support the learning. The Non-Profit Essentials Webinar Series is geared towards boards and leadership of non-profit organizations with roots in rural communities and who rely heavily on volunteers to achieve their missions. However, anyone involved with a non-profit can benefit from the information in the modules.
