February 1 – Winter Carnival – Slocan

The third annual Slocan Winter Carnival will be held February 1, 2025 and includes activities and events for the entire family.

February 5 – Kootenay Soil Building Network: Compost Quality and Quantity

Compost is one of the main inputs that farmers invest in to build soil, but not all composts are the same. Dieter Geesing with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food’s Soil Team will discuss what to look out for when purchasing compost and discuss the pros and cons of having compost as a farm’s primary farm input for fertility management. Meeting Registration – Zoom

February 6 – 9 – Invermere Film Festival

The 6th Annual Invermere Film Festival is a four day event held February 6-9, 2024, at the Columbia Valley Centre that showcases a number of recent Canadian films.

February 7 – Ryan Michael Magic – Mind Games

The Golden Community Resources Society is hosting Ryan Michael, who will perform his family friendly Mind Games magic performance to celebrate BC’s Family Day holiday on February 7th, 2025, at the Golden Civic Centre.

February 8 – Polka Dot Dragon Lantern Festival – Nelson

The Polka Dot Dragon Lantern Festival is a free community-based event in Nelson where attendees will create lanterns prior to the parade on Baker Street on February 7, and the outdoor gallery of lantern installations at Lakeside Park on February 8.

February 12 – Winter Wednesday Webinar: Drones on the Farm

Join local drone pilots and geospatial experts Vadim Stolyarov and Santiago Botero of Above Sensing for an insightful presentation on leveraging drone technology to enhance your farming operations. Meeting Registration – Zoom

February 15 – Watch Me Thrive: A Community Celebration – Trail

The Family Action Network of the Lower Columbia will host “Watch Me Thrive 2025” at the Trail Memorial Centre gym to celebrate children, families, communities, and volunteers through art, stories, food and local entertainment.

February 14 – 15 – 2025 Fernie Mountain Film Festival

The Fernie Mountain Film Festival Society will host it’s annual Mountain Film Festival on February 14 and 15, 2025.

February 15 – March 15 – Evergreens Farm – Grand Opening – Fernie

Wildsight Elk Valley will celebrate the grand opening of Evergreens Farm in Fernie. The event will include community tours of the farm for small groups over the 2-week period of February 15th to March 15th, 2025, as well as a celebration day where community members can come to the farm to enjoy a locally grown salad and learn about the project. February 19 – KBFA: Farm Water Storage

Join farm water planner and KBFA general advisor Andrew Bennett to discuss how to go about increasing water storage on your farm, and how you can try to get your projects funded. Andrew will give an overview of the legal, physical, and economic factors you’ll want to consider, followed by plenty of time for Q and A.

Community Connections of Southeast BC will host the Coldest Night of the Year on February 22, 2025.

February 22 – Nelson’s Coldest Night of the Year 2025

Nelson CARES Society is hosting their 11th “Coldest Night of the Year,” a fun family-oriented fundraising event to support the Ready for Home program on February 22, 2025.

February 22 – Yoho Blow Festival – Field

The Field Recreation Advisory Association host the annual Yoho Blow Festival on February 22, 2025, including breakfast at the hall, a town-wide bocce ball tournament, a BBQ, and a heritage relay race.

February 26 – KBFA: Electric Fence How-To

Join KBFA general advisor Andrew Bennett to go over how electric fences work and the many options available, followed by a Q and A to discuss your particular needs. Meeting Registration – Zoom

February 28 – Eat, Watch and Discuss in Johnsons Landing

The Johnsons Landing Community Association will host a once a month series called Eat, Watch and Discuss , as a means to bring the community together with food, film and lively discussion during the winter months.
