January 5 – Christmas Tree Bonfire – Deer Park

The Deer Park Recreation Society will host a Christmas Tree Bonfire where community members can bring their spent Christmas trees to burn and enjoy an outdoor wiener roast with hot beverage.

January 15 – Introduction to Kootenay Soil Building Network & Soil Texture

Join KBFA and local farms on January 15 at the first Zoom of the series to hear from the farms that will be ongoing case studies in the KSBN, discuss soil texture, soil building indicators and tell us what questions you have. Meeting Registration – Zoom

Golden and District Community Foundation, in collaboration with FireSmart coordinators and emergency consultants, will host three education sessions around Emergency Preparedness.

January 29 – Kootenay Soil Building Network: Nitrogen Availability

Nitrogen (N) availability for plant growth is difficult to measure and many farms are managing this specific essential nutrient for their farm business. There are strategies to measure N availability and at this KSBN discussion we will discuss testing methods including N availability from different input sources.
