May 2 – West Creston Annual Community Clean-up, Creston
The West Creston Community Hall Society will bring residents together for their annual Community Clean-Up, including roadside garbage pickup, picnic table painting, and other improvement projects at the Hall. Participants will be rewarded with a free BBQ at the end of the day.

May 5 – Missing Murdered Indigenous Women/People Awareness Walk, Cranbrook
Aq̓am will lead the MMIW/P Awareness Walk on May 5, 2026. The walk will open with drummers, and will include guest speakers, resource booths and sharing from families and friends of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People.

May 6 to 10 – Silver City Days, Trail
Silver City Days, an annual celebration of Trail’s community and culture, will take place from May 6-10, 2026, and include live entertainment, food vendors, a midway, and many special events.

May 9 – Blaeberry Community Day, Area A, Blaeberry
The Blaeberry Community Preparedness Association will host the Blaeberry Community Day on May 9, 2026 – an event focused on educational and fun family focused activities to strengthen community resilience and improve emergency readiness.

May 9 – Windlove Water Day, Area H, Winlaw
The 22nd Annual Winlove Water Day, celebrating the local watersheds, is a one-day event for the entire family. Held in Winlaw on May 9, 2026, it includes a parade, live music, local market, a kids zone, a maypole dance and more.

May 10 – Chinook Salmon Release, Valemount
The Simpcw Nation, Spruce City Wildlife Association, and Tourism Valemount Society will host the Chinook Salmon Release on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at George Hicks Regional Park

May 17 – Yaqan Nukiy 2026 Pow Wow, Yaqan Nukiy
The 2026 Yaqan Nukiy Pow Wow and gathering will occur from May 15-17, 2026, and will be open to community and KNC members.

May 20 – Salmon Release 2026, Basin Wide
This project supports the Shuswap Band to partner with other Secwépemc communities, as well as the Ktunaxa and Okanagan Nations, to conduct a ceremonial release of Sockeye salmon fry into the headwaters of the Columbia River at a location that has been used historically for harvesting salmon by the local Indigenous peoples. The event takes place May 20, 2026.

May 23 – Kootenay Co-op Radio Block Party #4, City of Nelson
Kootenay Co-operative Radio will host their annual Block Party at Lions Park in Nelson on May 23, 2026. This is a free event where local co-ops, charities, and Non-profit organizations are invited to engage the public with musical and dance performances, family friendly activities, and food vendors. May 22 to 24 – Beaver Valley May Days, Fruitvale
The 116th annual Beaver Valley May Days celebration will take place May 22-24, 2026 in Fruitvale, featuring a kids zone, live music and entertainment, local artists and vendors, food trucks and more. Event Information.

May 30 – Spring Fling, Kimberley
Summit Community Services Society is hosting a community BBQ on May 30, 2026. This community event will be held outside at Rocky Mountain Childcare in Marysville and will provide an opportunity for families to come out and enjoy the day. The event consists of a BBQ, Bouncy Castle, activities for the children, live music, face painting and more. Event Information.

May 30 – Spring Fling, CSRD Area, Field
The Field Recreation Advisory Association will host Spring Fling, their annual summer season kick off party on May 30, 2026, welcoming all Field residents, both new and old.

May 30 to 31 – Revy ReFest 2026, Revelstoke
Revy Re-Fest is a community upcycling festival that will take place May 30th-31st, 2026, in Revelstoke, BC. There will be tons of opportunities for local people to reduce waste, learn practical knowledge and skills, repair, and connect. Event Information.

May 30 to 31 – Achievement Day, Wycliffe
The Wasa and District 4-H Club are hosting their annual achievement day from May 30- 31, 2026, for 4-H members to showcase their projects and to be judges for completion. The youth members contribute to the community through service projects and learning skills that they can use to grow food, become entrepreneurs, and public speaking.
