Task Forces
Guided by the 2024-2034 Columbia Basin Management Plan, the Trust has four Task Forces to support progress in key areas: clean energy, local food, water, and housing. These Task Forces will provide strategic insights and informed recommendations on new initiatives in each of these areas.
Clean Energy
The purpose of the Clean Energy Initiatives Task Force is to develop recommendations for the Trust on clean energy initiatives that benefit the Basin and its residents.
Scope of Work
- Objective 1: Provide guidance on how the Trust can support the Basin’s transition to a clean energy future.
- Objective 2: Provide guidance on clean energy opportunities in the Basin—spanning generation, to transmission, to energy demand at residents’ doorsteps.
- Objective 3: Provide feedback on how the Trust can support the affordability, availability and reliability of clean energy.

Local Food
The purpose of the Local Food Initiatives Task Force is to develop recommendations for the Trust on initiatives that increase opportunities for Basin residents to learn about and access affordable, locally grown, healthy food.
Scope of Work
Objective 1: Provide guidance on tools and resources that support local food producers and processors.
Objective 2: Provide guidance on how the Trust can help increase access to affordable and locally grown and produced food.
Objective 3: Provide feedback on how the Trust can support the climate resilience of food production and processing in the Basin.

Water
The purpose of the Water Initiatives Task Force is to develop recommendations for the Trust on initiatives that help ensure access to fresh, safe and healthy water for current and future generations of Basin residents.
Scope of Work
Objective 1: Provide guidance on ways the Trust can develop water initiatives to preserve and prudently manage water quantity and quality in the Basin.
Objective 2: Provide feedback on how the Trust can develop water initiatives that support the climate resiliency of the Basin.

Housing
The purpose of the Housing Initiatives Task Force is to develop recommendations on initiatives that will increase and maintain quality housing for low and moderate-income households.
Scope of Work
Objective 1: Provide guidance on the Trust’s direct and active development of new housing in communities that require such support.
Objective 2: Provide guidance on ways the Trust can help maintain existing housing stock.
Objective 3: Provide feedback on how the Trust can partner to support the creation of new housing, including with First Nations and Métis communities.
