May 3 – Future of East Kootenay Grasslands and Rangelands Symposium
Columbia Mountains Institute for Applied Ecology will host a Symposium from May 1-3, 2025, to create space for a multi-disciplinary group to tell stories, share knowledge and explore ideas and solutions for improving grassland and rangeland health in the East Kootenay.

ʔaq̓am Health and Wellness will host a MMIP March on Saturday, May 3, 2025, beginning at Rotary park in Cranbrook where they will set up booths with resources and information, have guest speakers and drummers performing.
May 3 – Summit Spring Fling
Summit Community Services Society will host a community open house on May 3rd, 2025, to celebrate the opening of their new daycare space in Marysville, BC. The day will feature facility tours, family activities, live music, and a barbeque lunch, creating an inclusive and engaging environment.

May 3 – East Kootenay Quilt Guild Conference
Quilt guilds from across the East Kootenays will come together in Creston on May 3, 2025 to share ideas, learn new skills, and celebrate the art of quilting.
May 3 – West Creston Community Clean Up
The West Creston Community Hall Society will bring residents together for a ‘Community Cleanup’ on May 3, 2025, including roadside garbage pickup, playground painting, and other improvement projects at the Hall. Participants will be rewarded with a BBQ at the end of the day.

Fiesta Dorada is an annual Latin cultural festival held in Golden, BC, celebrating music, dance, food, and community. Taking place May 3, 2025, it offers free daytime activities and an evening concert.

Métis Nation Columbia River Society will lead a solidarity Riverwalk for Missing Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit People beginning at Spirit Square in Golden on Monday, May 5th.

The Grasmere Community Society is hosting a Community Square Dance and potluck dinner for families on May 5, 2025.

The City of Fernie is hosting the annual Rocky Mountain/West Kootenay Boundary Local Government Management Association Conference on from May 7-9, 2025. The theme of the conference is Peak
Perspectives, Elevating Leadership Through Shared Learnings and Perspectives.
May 9-10 – Rucking in the Rockies Rugby Celebration
The Elk Valley Rugby Football Club Rugby will be hosting Rucking in the Rockies on May 9th and 10th. The event, along with the men and women’s tournament will include: Rookie Rugby for ages 4-12, a try it rugby clinic, a referee session, high school teams (boys and girls) games, a bouncy castle and a community BBQ.

The Old South Slocan Schoolhouse Working Group will host a family friendly event to fundraise for the new park at the Shore Acres Hall on May 10, 2025.

Wildsight Golden will host a Migratory Bird Day Pancake Breakfast and Bird Walk on May 10, 2025, with games for families.
May 11 – Winter’s Glow/Spring’s Flow
The Procter Community Society will host Winter’s Glow/Spring’s Flow, a series of events to fend off the winter blues by bring the community together with laughter and fun, such as Christmas community dinner, a talent show, Solstice Bonfire, January Bingo, Valentines party and Women She Shines. It all starts with their Christmas Craft Fair on November 30, 2024.

Silver City Days, an annual celebration of Trail’s community and culture, will take place May 6-11, 2025, and include entertainment, food vendors, a midway, and many special events.
May 12 – Creston Valley Bird Festival 2025
The Creston Valley branch of Wildsight will host the annual Creston Valley Bird Festival – a convergence of ornithologists, biologists, birders, families and friends – from May 9 to 12, 2025.
May 16 -19 – 84th Annual Creston Valley Blossom Festival
The 84th Annual Creston Valley Blossom Festival will take place in the Creston Valley from May 16 to 19, 2025. This year’s event will celebrate the “Love of Farming” with parades, amusement rides, children’s games, dances, picnics, a street fair, entertainment, pancake breakfasts, and more.

Slocan Lake Arena Society hosts the 118th Annual May Days Celebration, bringing the community together for a fun event in the outdoors from May 17-18, 2025. Includes kids games, friendly competitions, food and live entertainment.

Yaqan Nuʔkiy will be hosting their annual traditional Pow Wow from May 17-19, 2025. This event is a cultural celebration and community gathering.

The Kaslo & Area Chamber of Commerce will host Kaslo May Days – a three-day family friendly community festival featuring logger sports, music, games, crafts and food vendors, the May Pole Dance, and the Old Time Parade – all held May 17 to 19, 2025.
May 21 – 23 – Salmon Release 2025
This project supports the Shuswap Band to partner with other Secwépemc communities, the Ktunaxa, and Okanagan Nations to conduct a ceremonial release of Sockeye salmon fry into the headwaters of the
Columbia River at a location that has been used historically for harvesting salmon by the local Indigenous peoples. The event takes place between May 21-23, 2025.
