Amanda Murphy is bringing her passion for community engagement and extensive experience in project coordination to Columbia Basin Trust as a Community Liaison. Based in Nakusp, she will support communities across the Northwest Basin region, including Revelstoke, Nakusp, New Denver, Silverton, Slocan and more.
“I grew up in small towns in the West Kootenay and have always felt deeply invested in this region,” says Murphy. “Working with diverse organizations and developing programs in the Basin has shaped my approach to collaboration, and I’m excited to support communities in meaningful ways.”
Murphy has worked across the public, private, non-profit and heritage sectors, gaining significant experience in infrastructure project coordination, planning and sustainable service delivery. In her new role, she will help communities access resources, foster connections and advance local initiatives.
“I’m committed to supporting communities by sharing knowledge, identifying opportunities and helping to bring people together,” she says. “It’s about strengthening relationships and creating solutions that build more resilient communities.”
Murphy joins the Trust’s team of Community Liaisons who engage with communities of all sizes to understand local needs and provide support.
We’re excited to welcome Amanda, whose strong facilitation skills and deep community connections will be an asset to the region,” says Katie Kendall, Senior Manager, Delivery of Benefits, Columbia Basin Trust. “She has already integrated seamlessly with our team and will be a great resource for the communities she’ll be working with.”
Murphy previously served as the Community Manager for the Village of New Denver, collaborating with local non-profits and various levels of government to advance community initiatives. She also worked with Slocan Integral Forestry Cooperative on wildfire resilience and climate adaptation through the implementation of FireSmart principles in the Slocan Valley.
Communities are encouraged to connect with Murphy and other members of the team to discuss local opportunities and access Trust support at ourtrust.org/communityliaisons.
