The Wednesday Social is a free community arts & cultural festival, hosted by the Fernie & District Arts Council, held every Wednesdays in July and August. Each week has live music, art activities, food trucks, and artisan market. Event Information.
August 5 & 12 – Family Yoga in the Park, Kimberley
Healthy Kimberley will host a by free “Yoga in the Park” summer series to support community wellness. The program will take place Wednesday’s in the afternoons during June, July, and August. The goal of the program is to create a welcoming outdoor space where residents can move their bodies, reduce stress, and connect with others in the community. Event Information.
August 6 – Summer Market Fest, Salmo
As part of the Salmo Farmer’s Market summer series, the Salmo Valley Farmer’s Market Society, in partnership with the Salmo District Arts Council, will host two special “Summer Market Fests” on August 6 and September 3, 2026, with live music and free watercolour and printmaking activities.
August 8 – Art in the Kohan Reflection Garden, New Denver
On August 8th, 2026, the Kohan Reflection Garden will host a family friendly, festival style event for the whole community called Art in the Garden. The event coincides with the Columbia Basin Art Tour and includes fourteen local artists, food vendors and live music throughout the day.
August 14 – Lardeau Valley Marketfest, Lardeau Valley
The Lardeau Valley Opportunities Society will host the Lardeau Valley Marketfest, with family activities, live entertainment, local food producers and business owners, taking place monthly May to August, 2026. Event Information.
August 14 – Kaslo’s Birthday Party, Kaslo
The Village of Kaslo is celebrating their 133rd birthday at Legacy Park on August 14, 2026, and invites everyone in town to partake in entertainment, refreshments, and cake, as well as meet the Citizen of the Year.
August 15 – August Night Market, Castlegar
The Castlegar & District Heritage Society are hosting the final summer night market in downtown Castlegar with music, a wide variety of vendors and a festive atmosphere on August 15, 2026.
August 17 to 21 – Caribbean Carnival Connection: Costumes and Conversations, Nelson
The Polka Dot Dragon Arts Society will host a five day “Caribbean Carnival Connection: Costumes and Conversations” event from August 17-21, 2026, with a film screening with a diaspora conversation panel, costume workshops with cultural context, and a carnival parade at Nelson’s night market. The Moyie Community Association hosts an annual BBQ and Fun Game Day near the end of the summer. This year the event will take place August 24, 2026, be free and will include food, live music and games.

The Yahk-Kingsgate Recreation Society will host their annual Yahk Dayz on August 29, 2026, including a pancake breakfast, live music, car show, vendor market, games, crafts, and more.
Various Dates – 2026 Gold Fever Follies Shut-in Special Performances, Rossland
As part of their 2026 theatre season, the Rossland Gold Fever Follies cast will travel to five local care facilities to perform a free, modified version of their stage show “A Hot Time in the Old Town,” based on the Kootenays’ 1890’s gold rush days. Event Information.
