People living in the Basin care deeply about the environment and the impacts of climate change. Climate change is a complex issue that will continue to intensify without collective, coordinated efforts from all levels of society locally and globally. Recognizing that changes in environmental conditions affect all facets of life, the Trust will apply climate resilience considerations in delivery of its programs and initiatives.

Integrated Work
As an integrated priority, the Trust has integrated climate resilience into its strategic priorities by supporting:
- wildfire risk reduction and job creation through the Columbia Basin Wildfire Resiliency Initiative
- operational and infrastructure upgrades to help organizations adapt to the impacts of climate change and reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions through Non-profit SMART Grants
- energy retrofits in affordable housing in the Basin through the Energy Retrofit Program
- communities’ ability to meet their needs during emergencies and disasters such as floods, wildfires or sustained power outages through the Community Readiness Program
- healthy, diverse and functioning ecosystems through the Ecosystem Enhancement Program
- businesses fostering climate resilience through Basin Rev-Up
- improved access to local food
- access to community specific information on climate change through the Columbia Basin Climate Source
