Child Care Grants
The Trust’s Child Care Grants focus on strengthening the quality of child care in the Basin.
This program has two funding streams, New Equipment and Small Improvements. Each funding stream has unique eligibility and project requirements. If you are a non-profit or a for-profit provider of licensed child care, carefully review each stream below, you may be eligible to submit one application per child care facility, per funding stream.
Stream One – New Equipment
This funding stream supports the acquisition of specialized equipment to improve the quality and safety of child care operations.
Who Can Apply
Eligible Applicants include Indigenous (First Nation & Metis), non-profit and for-profit providers of licensed child care in the Columbia Basin Trust region.
- Group Child Care
- Group Child Care (School Age)
- Multi-Age Child Care
- Preschool
- Family Child Care
- In-Home Multi-Age Child Care
- Registered License Not Required
Eligible Project Types
The types of eligible costs may include, but are not limited to:
- children’s furniture
- safety equipment
- major appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines
- strollers and car seats
- storage units and shelving
- indoor/outdoor play equipment that is not permanently installed
Applicants must demonstrate that equipment will be directly applied to the delivery of child care and not used for other purposes.

Stream Two – Small Improvements
This funding stream supports improvements, upgrades and renovations to licensed child care spaces to improve and sustain the quality and safety of the operations.

Eligible Applicants include Indigenous (First Nation & Metis), non-profit and for-profit providers of licensed child care in the Columbia Basin Trust region.

Eligible Project Types
The types of eligible costs may include, but are not limited to:
- health and safety upgrades including improvements to finishings, structures and radon mitigation
- bathroom upgrades to improve accessibility and safety (e.g., installing touchless taps, soap dispensers and hand dryers)
- upgrading fencing, ground covering or major play structures to improve children’s access to play outdoors
