It’s a big project for a small non-profit society to take on: a $1.9-million affordable housing project for seniors. The Slocan Valley Seniors’ Housing Society is up to the task, and Columbia Basin Trust is pleased to support the project.
The new eight-unit housing development will consist of two four-plexes located behind the Slocan Library and Wellness Centre, and will include six one-bedroom suites with lofts and two two-bedroom suites.
The Trust, BC Housing, the Village of Slocan, Slocan Valley Economic Development Commission, RDCK, Slocan Valley Community Legacy Society, Heritage Credit Union, Slocan Legion Branch #276, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, local housing and trades professionals and members of the local community have made contributions to the project through funds, land and many thousands of volunteer hours to bring the project to this point.
