The Community Wildfire Program is supporting communities to enhance their efforts at reducing the risk of wildfires occurring within or adjacent to communities in the Basin. To help make this happen, Columbia Basin Trust is working with municipalities, First Nations communities and regional districts in the Basin to provide funding and other support to help mitigate community wildfire risks, augmenting support offered by different levels government, other organizations and funding programs.
This program will support communities to:
- implement innovative approaches for reducing interface wildfire risks through a request for expressions of interest;
- increase public awareness about wildfire risk mitigation measures through the Community Wildfire Education Grants; and
- access expert guidance from a Wildfire Advisor, who can help communities develop, seek funding for and implement interface wildfire risk mitigation projects.
If you are a representative of a municipality, First Nations community or regional district looking for support and guidance with developing, seeking funding for or implementing a wildfire risk mitigation project, contact email@example.com to be connect with a Wildfire Advisor.
