More park amenities for Castlegar residents
Castlegar’s Millennium Park will soon receive a second round of upgrades. The upgrades will include an off-leash dog park; beach volleyball and tennis/pickleball courts; improved access, parking and drop-off areas; a bike skills park; and a secondary beach. These phase two upgrades will be made possible in part by $450,000 from Columbia Basin Trust.
These will build upon phase one upgrades already completed for the park, including new ponds, a covered picnic and concession area and a green gym.
“We are very excited to move forward with these additional projects for Millennium Park. On behalf of Council and area residents, we would like to thank Columbia Basin Trust and Central Kootenay Regional District Area Directors Andy Davidoff and Rick Smith for their support for this project,” said Mayor Lawrence Chernoff. “We expect to begin these projects this year with completion in 2016. The phase two park projects will be a great addition to our regionally oriented Millennium Park.”
