Forms are created with Formidable Pro, which is documented on the Forms page. Form Views are a feature of Formidable Pro that allows form entries to be displayed as a database record, and formatted or filtered in many different ways.
We are currently using Form Views to present two types of collected form data:
- Funded Projects – A searchable view is located on the Funded projects page. There is also an internal form that can be used to add new projects.
- Staff Directory– A searchable view is located on the Contact page. There are also many examples of filtered Views on various pages of the site such as Initiatives > Community. There is also an internal form that can be used to add new staff members.
To work with Form Views, first review the Formidable Pro Views documentation.
Then go to Forms > Views in the admin area sidebar menu and examine the Views that have already been created. Often a new View can be made by copying and modifying an existing one.
Many of the existing Views address situations where a custom list of staff contacts need to be placed in a page.
To allow this kind of View to be created, there is a Special Role field in the staff directory where keywords can be added to assign people to this type of ‘not-quite-a-department’ role. For example the keyword ‘community’ might be added to the Special Role field for several users that should be listed on the Community Initiatives page.
Then a View is created with a filter that selects any Staff Directory record with ‘community’ in the Special Role field.
When the shortcode for that View is placed on a page, the selected records appear, as they do below:
