Business SMART Grants

The Business SMART (Sustainable, Mitigation, Adaptation, and Resilience Transition) Grants will support Basin businesses to make operational and infrastructure upgrades to help mitigate or adapt to the impacts of climate change.

Eligible business sectors include agriculture, production or manufacturing, construction, transportation, service, hospitality, or retail.

Eligible applicants are businesses in the Basin region.

Your business must:

  • have been in operation for more than two years
  • have between two and 50 direct full time employees
  • have at least $75,000 in annual revenues in the previous tax year
  • have a WorkSafeBC account in good standing
  • if incorporated, be in good standing with BC Corporate Registry
  • adhere to all applicable labour laws
  • demonstrate how the project will mitigate or adapt to the impacts of climate change, and/or reduce GHG emissions
  • demonstrate ability to support ongoing maintenance of any acquired infrastructure
  • intend to apply or have applied to other available and applicable federal, provincial, local and/or industry funding programs and/or rebates
  • demonstrate ownership of property if applying for infrastructure that will be installed on the building and/or land

  2. Gather quotes and develop your project. Use the application worksheet to develop the application offline, if preferred.
  3. Complete the online application form.

Applicants should contact Trust staff at or 1.800.505.8998 to discuss their project idea as soon as possible.  An advisor is available to support eligible projects that request it at least six weeks before the application deadline.
