Apprentice Wage Subsidy

The School Works: Apprentice Wage Subsidy provides a wage subsidy to businesses, non-profits or First Nations communities, and local governments in the Columbia Basin to meet their employment needs.

Employers must:

  • Be a business (with 100 employees or fewer, including management), local government, non-profit or First Nation community.
  • Businesses must operate and have headquarters in the Basin region.

CRITERIA:

The Program supports employers to provide employment to an apprentice to complete their work-based requirements for the following trades:

  • Appliance Service Technician
  • Aborist Technician
  • Auto Body and Collision Technician
  • Automotive Service Technician
  • Cabinetmaker
  • Carpenter
  • Cook
  • Electrician, Construction
  • Electrician, Industrial
  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
  • Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
  • Machinist
  • Metal Fabricator (Fitter)
  • Plumber
  • Recreation Vehicle Service Technician
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
  • Sheet Metal Worker
  • Steamfitter / Pipefitter
  • Truck & Transport Mechanic
  • Welder

The program supports the retention of participating apprentices if the employer chooses to retain them to complete work-based training requirements in the same trade, beyond Level 1.

  2. Click on Apply Now to begin. Limit: one application per business.
  3. You may save drafts and submit the form when it is complete.
  4. We assess the applications as they come in and continue until all funding has been committed.
  5. You will receive an email notification along with a copy of your submission after submitting.
