Affordable Housing Initiative
The Trust supports communities in the Columbia Basin (map) by partnering to create, maintain and improve affordable housing that meets local needs.
Through this Initiative, we consider support on a case-by-case basis to local governments, non-profit housing societies and First Nations for affordable housing projects, subject to available resources and other funding opportunities through the following:
- directly developing small, modest multi-unit residential projects;
- the First Nation Housing Sustainability Initiative;
- the Energy Retrofit and Recharge program; and
- providing funding and support to help create affordable rental housing.
If your organization has a project idea, reach out to housing@ourtrust.org to connect with Trust staff to explore your project and possible Trust support.
Since 2015 the Trust has
- Supported the creation of over 1,500 units of affordable rental housing
- Helped improve the energy efficiency of over 1,600 units of affordable rental housing
- Contributed over $70 million to create and retain affordable housing in the Basin
