A new 18-unit apartment complex has opened in Invermere, while construction has started on a six-unit townhouse family complex in Creston. Both of these offer more affordable housing options for low-income families in the Basin.
These projects are part of the Affordable Rental Housing initiative, which is a $10-million, three-year program that is a result of federal, provincial and Trust investments; the Government of Canada and Province of BC are providing a combined investment of $5 million, while the Trust is contributing another $5 million.
“Columbia Basin Trust is committed to supporting initiatives throughout the Basin that contribute to the well-being of our communities, and affordable housing is just one example of this commitment,” said Neil Muth, President and CEO. “We congratulate the co-operative efforts and hard work of all the partners and community members connected with these projects.”
