ʔaq’am Health and Wellness hosts the second annual Suicide Awareness Walk, a community event in Cranbrook.

The Langham Hall will present the live music portion of the 2024 Summer Kootenay Resilience Festivals. These performances act not only as entertainment, but also as a catalyst for community engagement.

September 8 – Corn Cricker’s Picnic – West Creston

West Creston Community Hall Society will host the Corn Crickers’ Picnic, an old fashion fun-filled picnic with games, barbecued hamburgers, fresh corn, and homemade baking. This is a major fundraiser for the
community hall.

The Kootenay Literary Society will host their annual Elephant Mountain Literary Festival to celebrate writers, publishers and readers to raise the profile of writers and storytellers in Nelson.

The annual Shuswap Salmon Festival celebrates and honours the salmon, aims to build public
understanding of the cultural and ecological importance of salmon, and aims to strengthen
relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in the Upper Columbia.

The 8th annual Elk Valley Pride Festival celebrates the 2SLGBTQ+ community and allies with 19 scheduled events over five days in Fernie.

September 20 – Castle Wood Village’s Anything for Alzheimer’s Walk – Castlegar

Castle Wood Village will host a fundraising event for the Alzheimer’s Society of BC with a pledged walk, a BBQ by donation, craft & bake sale, silent auction and live music in Castlegar.
